Bwo Art is an Atlanta based firm specialized in dealing contemporary African art worldwide. The firm, which was founded by two Cameroonian natives represents artists and serves as a middleman between artists and collectors, institutions or businesses looking to acquire works of art by African artists.
The word “bwo” comes from Medumba, a language widely spoken by the Bangangte people in the West region of Cameroon. In English, bwo means “beauty” and “beautiful”, it can also mean “good”, it is a very strong adjective that we use to describe the intricacies and aesthetics captured and expressed by a certain work of art. We are passionate about the beauty in work of arts, and the beauty in the people who create; especially in emerging artists from the African continent or in the African diasporas, with strong and masterful abilities to tell stories about themselves, or their surroundings through visual arts.
At Bwo Art, we have a fervent interest in the arts, particularly in the development and global recognition of contemporary African art. Primarily, we work with visual artists and support them in their career development by finding or creating opportunities for them to show or educate people about their art.
As part of our services, we also work with individuals, cultural institutions, collections and businesses interested in building or growing a contemporary African art collection. We help them acquire works by sought after or emerging artists, whose works express a certain maturity and will grow in value over time.
